Taukil: the main document of ownership in Hurghada
What is a Taukil?
The tawkil is the most important document confirming ownership of real estate in Hurghada. In fact, this is a general power of attorney that the seller issues to the buyer. The document cannot be revoked after it has been issued.
The main characteristics of the document
- It is issued only after full payment of the property
- It is issued to the persons specified in the purchase and sale agreement.
- It may provide for both a joint and separate right of sale with several owners.
- It does not contain information about the amount of the transaction and the grounds for the agreement.
Registration procedure
Important conditions:
- The personal presence of the seller during registration is mandatory
- The buyer may not be present
- The document is drawn up only in Arabic at the state notary office of Hurghada Sharaa-Akari
- Translation into other languages is possible at licensed translation centers.

The Tawkil is the basis for:

- The document can be restored via Sharaa-Akari in case of loss.

- In case of death of the seller, the signing date confirms his legal capacity.
- It is recommended to include a clause on maintaining the validity of the document after the death of the seller
- It is necessary to keep copies of all previous Taukils or their registration data.

- The document acts solely in the interests of the owner indicated in it.
- Third parties cannot use Taukil for real estate transactions
- Even if the document gets to unauthorized persons, the rights to real estate remain with the owner indicated in the document.
